About Randonneuring
The art of ultra-distance endurance cycling
What is Randonneuring?
Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. Organized globally by Audax Club Parisien (ACP) and in the US by Randonneurs USA (RUSA), riders complete long distances within strict time limits, passing through control checkpoints.
📏 Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM)
Standard distances with strict time limits based on 15 km/h minimum average
Riders must pass through designated control points (checkpoints) within specified opening and closing times. Controls ensure riders maintain proper pace—neither too slow nor too fast.
🏅 Super Randonneur (SR)
The prestigious title earned through dedication and consistency
What It Takes
Complete the full BRM series — 200km, 300km, 400km, and 600km — all within a single ACP calendar year (November to October). This requires not just physical fitness but consistent commitment across months of training and riding.
🏆 Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP)
The oldest and most prestigious cycling event, since 1891
The Ultimate Goal
Paris-Brest-Paris is a 1,200km ride from Paris to Brest and back, completed within 90 hours. Held every four years, PBP is the ultimate goal for randonneurs worldwide. To qualify, riders must complete a full Super Randonneur series in the qualifying year.
💫 The Spirit of Randonneuring
More than just riding — it's a community and a philosophy
Self-Sufficiency
Riders carry their own supplies, navigate independently, and solve problems on the road. No support vehicles or team cars.
Camaraderie
Supporting fellow riders along the way. There are no winners or losers — only those who finish within the time limit.
Beautiful Routes
Rides traverse scenic countryside, often through the night, showcasing California's most beautiful and challenging terrain.
Mental Resilience
Managing nutrition, hydration, sleep deprivation, equipment issues, and weather — all while maintaining pace.
Coach Mani — Pioneer of Randonneuring
Long before the current generation of Team Asha riders took up randonneuring, Coach Mani blazed the trail by completing Paris-Brest-Paris in 2007. Mani pioneered Team Asha's randonneuring culture, inspiring everything that followed.
